The Fashion Industry
Fashion Designing is a creative Art. The job of a designer is not complete until he or she is able to translate the creative idea into a garment or else he is just an artist. But garment making is a skill. Skills are acquired. You must master skills for you to excel.The fashion industry has not been able to take its rightful place in the economy of the nation as against the music industry. As a people we are gifted in creativity, but these days, creativity without proper skills and technology makes a mockery of your work. It is translating our creative ideas into a master piece that has been the bane of the fashion industry in Nigeria.
An economy that wants to thrive must not joke with the fashion industry. Especially a nation like Nigeria, whose people are quite fashionable. You can imagine how much we spend on fashion, more so, with our population. Interestingly a chunk of our fashion needs are met from outside. The truth is that nobody is willing to pay for a poor quality product. The product must meet the global standard. This is where proper training is a necessity. We need educational system that can meet this need in the fashion industry. We need to do away with the 19th century archaic tailoring methods handed over to us by our colonial masters. Our institutions of learning too have not really developed much to fill this gap. The solution to this lies in the hands of us all.
As experienced players in the industry, we at The Wardrobe ultimate Concept, a leading fashion Product retailing outfit have been privileged to be both in the creative designing and production, so we know what it takes. We have been in garment making for over twenty years and have worked with both domestic and international factories.
It is in the light of this we have decided to train Nigerian designers the how and what it takes to produce garments that meet international standard, from design concept to the shop floor through our training institute, Celebrity's Fashion Academy (C-LIFE).
In C-LIFE, our experience of over twenty years in the industry from both domestic and international is shared with interested trainees. We have brought together professionals with cognate experiences to teach in the different aspects of garment technology.
